Julie Ann Roberts

Julie Ann Roberts - These Old Shoes
25th/27th August 2007 10am-6pm

Julie usually presents semi-representational and abstract paintings exploring subjects such as landscape, aerial views and microscopic images.
Inspired by living and working in an old cobbler’s, Julie’s first installation focuses on the theme of memory and history of place. Her casts of shoes, (the shoes kindly donated by the local community), use of the old workbench (the original bench used by Dennis Edwards) and sound, explore the nature of the place and the memories it evokes.
Julie has exhibited nationally and internationally. She was Artist in Residence at The Tricycle Gallery in London for four years, worked in India for two years and is currently working from The Last Gallery Studio. Julie also curates The Last Gallery exhibition programme, works in adult education in Carmarthen and provides a series of art weekends and painting days from The Last Gallery.

Yr Hen 'Sgidie' 'ma
Fel arfer cyflwyna Julie darluniau cryno a hanner-cynrychioladol yn arloesi pynciau fel golygfeydd, awyrluniau a delweddau chwyddwydrol.
Wedi cael ysbrydoliaeth o fyw a gweithio mewn hen grudd, mae gosodiad cyntaf Julie yn canolbwyntio ar y thema o hanes a chof lle. Mae ei castiau o 'sgidie' (yn garedig wedi eu rhoi gan y gymuned leol), defnydd o'r hen fainc gwaith(yr un gwreiddiol a ddefnyddiodd Dennis Edwards) a sain, arloesai natur y lle a'r atgofion mae'n gwysio.
Mae Julie wedi arddangos yn Genedlaethol ac yn rhyngwladol. Bu yn artist preswyl yng Ngaleri 'Tricycle' yn Llundain am bedair mlynedd, gweithiodd yn India am ddwy flynedd ac mae'n gweithio'n gyfredol o stiwdio 'The Last Gallery'. Mae Julie yn curadu rhaglen arddangosfeydd y galeri, gweithiai mewn addysg oedolion yng Nghaerfyrddin yn ogystal a cynnig cyfres o benwythnosau celf a diwrnodau paentio o ' The Last Gallery'.
