Liz Brickell August 2008 "This Installation explores the notions of the public and private spaces that surround us all. By adopting contradictory methods of viewing these types of spaces, we are led to question our own perceptions of the everyday spaces we live in within the home or work place. Projected onto the wall are images of private spaces often not visited by others, from attics and under stair cupboards to the personal workshop/shed spaces used by Individuals. The latter includes my own 92yr old fathers shed, cluttered with old chemistry bottles used for nail storage and oil tins made into drawers, as well as the now empty spaces within the workshop of the late Cobbler Dennis Edwards. Within the screen are images of large public spaces now reduced to a miniscule size. In order to view these, one must stand very close, adopting an almost voyeuristic approach: perhaps the opposite to that which one would normally associate with a public space. Within the shelves are images of telephone kiosks representing both the private and the public space. Sometimes, the spaces we think we know so well, surprise us with hidden depths that provoke us to enquire further." Cai'r delweddau o wagleoedd preifat sydd ddim yn aml yn cael eu ymweld, fel cwpwrdd dan y grisiau, llofftydd a sied neu weithdy sy'n cael eu defnyddio gan unigolion. Mae'n cynnwys sied fy nhad 92 mlwydd oed, yn llawn poteli cemeg sy'n storio hoelion a tiniau olew wedi eu troi mewn i ddrors yn ogystal a lle gwag o fewn gweithdy crudd y cyn Dennis Edwards. O fewn y sgrin mae delweddau o wagleoedd cyhoeddus mawr wedi eu lleihau i maint bach iawn. Er mwyn gweld rhain mae'n rhaid sefyll yn agos iawn ac edrych mewn ffordd sydd ir gwrthwyneb i sut fydde rywun yn edrych ar lleoliad cyhoeddus o'i math yn arferol. O fewn y silffoedd mae lluniau o o sawl ciosg teleffon sy'n gyfuniad o le cyhoeddus ond eto'n breifat. Weithiau mae edrych ar leodd cyfarwydd yn gallu pryfocio ein meddyliau a'n synnu gyda'u dyfnder a'n annog i edrych arnynt mewn manylder.
